Description of the job
The Quality Coordinator – East Coast is responsible for ensuring all workshop and subcontracted jobs meet required quality standards, specifications, and customer expectations. This includes inspection of work in progress and finished goods, identifying and resolving quality issues, and maintaining documentation to support compliance and continual improvement. The role supports FLSmidth's commitment to excellence, safety, and a zero-defect culture. This role encompasses two facilities on the east coast: Pinkenba and Mackay.
Key Responsibilities:
Take overall accountability for the quality of workshop jobs.
Inspect jobs in progress within the workshop to ensure compliance with drawings, standards, and procedures.
Perform final inspections of completed workshop jobs prior to dispatch.
Conduct in-progress inspections of subcontracted operations.
Develop Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and other Quality Control documents as required.
Assist in the disposition and documentation of non-conformances.
Ensure all measurement and inspection equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
Ensure work is performed in accordance with relevant codes, specifications, and customer requirements.
Identify, report, and assist in resolving quality issues, contributing to the implementation of corrective actions.
Proactively initiate actions to prevent the recurrence of non-conformances.
Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role, skills, and safe work practices.
Report any incidents or hazards promptly to management and participate in incident investigations as needed.

Work collaboratively with team members to complete shift tasks and exceed customer expectations.
What you bring:
Diploma or Degree qualified with relevant experience.
Minimum of five years’ experience in mechanical/fabrication industry in addition to experience within the established quality assurance system.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications to determine compliance
Effectively use a variety of measuring instruments such as vernier, micrometer, various in-house gauges
Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
High attention to detail and accuracy in report writing
Ability to conduct Internal Auditing
Management and control of the Non-Conformance system specific to Action Plans for RCA and subsequent Continual improvement
Research and development towards error-proofing of processes
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
