Director – Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance
SO Level | $190K – $199K TRP | Brisbane
Lead the internal audit function for a major QLD Government department
- Strategic leadership role acting as Head of Internal Audi
- Attractive total remuneration package: $190,387 – $199,204 p.a.
- Flexible, full-time permanent role in a high-impact team
Based in the Brisbane CBD, this role offers the opportunity to shape the internal audit, risk and compliance frameworks across a large and diverse Queensland Government department.
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Governance, Performance & Operations, you will act as the statutory Head of Internal Audit and manage an outsourced internal audit program, while also leading internal risk and compliance strategy.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the department’s Internal Audit function, managing co-sourced arrangements and audit planning;
- Oversee and enhance enterprise risk and internal compliance frameworks;
- Prepare strategic reports, briefings and submissions for senior executives and central agencies;
- Build a culture of continuous improvement across audit and risk practices; and
- Lead a small, high-performing team (2 direct reports).
- Appropriate qualification under the Financial Accountability Regulation 2019 (e.g. CPA, CA, MIPA / FIPA or professional IIA membership);
- Strong experience in leading internal audit, risk and/or compliance functions;
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills;
- Experience managing outsourced internal audit or co-sourced programs; and
- A tertiary qualification in Governance, Risk or related disciplines is desirable.
- Attractive Total remuneration package: $190,387 – $199,204 p.a. (incl. super and leave loading);
- 36.25 hour work week + flexible working arrangements;
- 4–5 weeks annual leave, 14 weeks paid parental leave, long service and purchased leave options; and
