The Company

This specialist engineering consultancy supports major infrastructure and construction clients with a strong reputation for practical, high-quality design and responsive service. In this role you will join a collaborative national team and systems that enable smart delivery. The business is positioned for continued growth and is looking for a senior leader to expand its Queensland presence.

The Opportunity

As QLD State Lead, you will drive business growth while leading the State engineering and delivery function. You’ll be the senior client interface in Queensland, building long-term relationships, and converting opportunities into a consistent pipeline of work. Internally, you’ll provide technical leadership across delivery, ensuring projects meet programme, budget, quality and commercial objectives, while developing the team as it grows.

More specifically, your responsibilities include;

  • Lead and implement the Queensland business development strategy aligned to national objectives
  • Own and drive the State revenue pipeline, forecasting, conversion and capacity planning to ensure consistent workload
  • Develop, maintain and grow senior client relationships
  • Identify and secure new opportunities, partnerships and strategic alliances
  • Lead high-quality fee proposals, bid strategies and commercial negotiations
  • Maintain CRM discipline, ensuring contacts, opportunities and pipeline data are current and accurate
  • Lead the State engineering and delivery function, overseeing performance across multiple concurrent projects
  • Ensure design outputs comply with relevant standards, client requirements and internal quality assurance processes
  • Lead resource planning and allocation to balance workloads and optimise utilisation
  • Intervene in at-risk projects and drive recovery and resolution
  • Provide senior technical input into complex or high-risk engineering challenges and methodologies
  • Mentor and develop Associate Engineers, building leadership capability and a high-performance, accountable culture
  • Strengthen integration between delivery and business development by identifying opportunities through project execution
About You
This is a senior leadership role combining client growth, commercial accountability and technical oversight. To be successful, you will bring a proven ability to win and deliver work in major projects environments, while developing a capable team around you.

We’d love to speak with candidates who can demonstrate;
  • Solid experience in civil / structural / temporary works / construction engineering within infrastructure or major projects environments
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or business units with accountability for delivery and commercial outcomes
  • Proven track record of winning work: building client relationships, converting opportunities, and growing a revenue pipeline
  • Strong capability across proposals, bids and commercial negotiations
  • Deep project delivery experience, managing to programme, budget and quality, including oversight of complex or high-risk works
  • Experience in resource planning and utilisation management across teams
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers
  • Strong understanding of temporary works design and construction methodologies, relevant Australian standards, and client frameworks
  • Commitment to quality assurance, compliance and audit processes
  • Bachelor of Engineering, Surveying or Construction Management (Chartered status highly regarded)
  • RPEQ required
  • Office-based in Brisbane with some interstate travel as required
Why This Role

This is a genuine leadership opportunity to shape and grow a Queensland operation with the autonomy to build relationships, secure work, and set delivery standards, backed by a national platform and strong capability across major projects.

If you’re ready to step into a role where you can make a visible impact on growth, delivery performance and team development, we look forward to talking to you.
